Think about this for a second. If you went just three days without water, your body would start to shut down. And here's the thing, even when we have water. Most of us are still running around dehydrated, tired, foggy. achy and wondering why we don't feel like ourselves. The truth is, hydration isn't just about quenching your thirst. It fuels your brain. It powers your cells. and literally charges the battery in your body. also known as your mitochondria. And beyond science, water's been studied to show that it holds memory. carries intention and connects us in ways we often overlook. We'll get into the science and all that fun stuff. and we're gonna get into the nitty gritty of it. Hi, welcome back to the Do Life podcast where we talk about life, its challenges, and some clever ways to tackle some of those common obstacles with cutting edge technology, scientific-based research, and splash amount of physical properties. I'm your host, Life Coach Layla, and today... We're diving into the most basic yet most profound. element of life. Water. and we're gonna break down why hydration isn't just important. but how water actually fuels your body at a cellular level. We'll look at the different types of water, tap, filtered, spring, hydrogen, et cetera. And we'll weigh the pros and cons of each. And then we'll finish with the metaphysical side, the energetics and the... spiritual properties of water. And by the end, you'll never look at a glass of water the same way again. So stick with me, let's get into it. So let's start with the basics. Your body is mostly water. It's anywhere from 50 to 60 % water. Your blood itself is around 90%. Your brain and heart? They're closer to 75. Hell, even your bones are 30 % water. Every single cell. in your body depends on it. And water is your body's ultimate multitasker. It regulates your temperatures, transports nutrients, lubricates. your joints, cushions, your organs, aids in detoxification. Your kidneys filter about 50 gallons of blood daily. They need water to flush those toxins. So the more hydrated you are, the less stress. the less stress you put on your organs. It also directly impacts your brain. mild dehydration, even like 2 to 3 % dehydrated, can cause all kinds of cognitive impairments like memory loss, it can alter your mood, you can have a lack of focus. and it's responsible for brain fog and all kinds of other things. And then there's your mitochondria. those little power plants in your cells. We learned about them in like third grade and I'm sure not a lot of people are familiar with their functions or how they play a role in anti-aging and energy and all kinds of things, but they're like... but they create energy. ATP, it's the currency that your body spends every single function on. Hydration is essential for mitochondrial efficiency. Without enough water, your mitochondria slow down. leaving you fatigued. foggy and more vulnerable distress. Think of water like charging your phone. If your battery is only at 20%, then your app's lag, your screen dims. You can't get much done. So hydration is how you charge your body's battery back. So we just talked about kind of the basics of why water is important. I didn't want to go into a whole elementary dissertation on water and its function and its importance because we all know that water is important. Our body can't survive without it. The world can't survive without it. when they look for signs of life on other planets, they're searching for water. It is essential to life. And so I encourage you to do a deep dive on water specifically and how it hydrates and how it works. Like this is just to give you a good understanding, but I highly encourage you to do a deep dive on the subject because it's essential for life and quality of life. So let's get into the different types of water and how they're made, pros and cons of each kind. So we'll start with the basics tap water. Everybody should have a sink in their house and have some sort of water running through it, whether it's tap or well or whatever. It's basically... sourced from lakes, river, rain and... treated at municipal plants with chlorine and fluoride, especially in America. I'm talking about American water for the reference. I don't know other countries as well, so I apologize if this doesn't necessarily apply to you in your water. then once it's treated, it's piped into homes. So the pros are it's cheap, it's accessible, it's regulated in most developed companies and we're not going to get into that whole fluoride debate but supposedly fluoride helps support dental health according to the people who put fluoride in the water and that is, we're going to leave that at that. So then the cons are also that it may contain chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride, also microplastics. pharmaceutical residues, heavy metals, arsenic, iron, lead. depending on the infrastructure and the taste can often be unpleasant. I noticed as a young person growing up and traveling through different states and cities that the water tastes entirely different from town to town. And it's because of where it's sourced and the different minerals and the chemicals and all kinds of fun stuff. So taste is a big factor and definitely led to me being bit more bougie when it comes to my water. but it's good for everyday use. like cleaning or watering your yard or something. And it's best if it's paired with a filter. You can get several different types of filters. There's reverse osmosis, whole home systems. Well, let's just talk about filtered water then, I guess. So filtered water is basically any kind of tap water, other type of water that's passed through activated carbon. There's also reverse osmosis. There's ceramic filters. and you can get the filters that go in the fridge. You can get filters that go under the sink. You can get whole home filters. So. the different types of filters real quick is basically your, like your name brand filters that can go in the fridge or attach to the sink or the faucet. Those are removing some of the chemicals. I researched something the other day that told me that the... Companies that put the chemicals in the water are also the same companies that make the filters and so when you actually test the water they don't remove as much of the chemicals as they claim to I have not tested that or researched that Specifically, so don't hold me to that information But do with that what you will and You're under the sink filters or like remotes us reverse osmosis filters have their pros and cons. They remove a lot of things like your pesticides, your lead, your chlorine, your VOCs, bacteria. And some people say that they taste better. The negatives is Good filters can be expensive. Reverse osmosis systems strip minerals, so remineralization may be necessary. And that can get pricey too. It's really good for homes where water's been chemically treated or comes from a well or has like a metallic taste or for health conscious people who want cleaner water without going to the extreme. I have an under the sink reverse osmosis system. I use it to water my plants. I have little plants and glass domes and I find that the reverse osmosis doesn't leave your your mineral deposits on the terrariums or the domes. I also have reptiles in glass cages that need spraying and humidity. And so I put the reverse osmosis water in the sprayers because it also doesn't leave the mineral deposits on the glass. So reverse osmosis does have its benefits and I know that there's no harmful chemicals in it. So I can take a shower with the reverse osmosis water. I can safely water my plants and wash my hair and all that fun stuff. And then If it's something I want to drink, I will remineralize it. So was filtered water. Let's talk about distilled water, how it's made. So distilled water is basically water that's boiled and the steam is collected. and the steam is collected and condensed into pure H2O. So, pros, it's the purest form of water with no minerals, no bacteria, no chemicals. It's great for detoxification purposes or even medical use. And the cons are it's stripped from all minerals, everything. So long term drinking of just distilled water can actually deplete your body of minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium. It's got a really flat taste and it's a very energy intensive process. Distilled water is great in like humid ores, humidifiers. anything that needs water stored long term. is you don't have to worry about any impurities being in there. It's really good for short-term detox, medical use like in a CPAP machine. Lab works, you can blend it with mineral drops if you want to drink it. Like I said, humidifiers, things like that it's really good for. So then there's spring water. which is collected from an underground aquifer where the spring water rises naturally to the surface. And the pros of it is it contains natural minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium. and it typically tastes amazing, in my personal preference. Has the best taste of all the other types of water available. I'm self-proclaimed water snob, so that's just my opinion. Some people may prefer the taste of distilled water with minerals added to it, or you know, whatever. So some of the cons of spring water is the quality of spring water depends highly on the spring itself and the bottling and processing of said spring water And labels on spring water are often, well, they're loosely regulated. Let's just say that. So spring water is really good for your natural mineral intake and taste preferences. Then there's alkaline water. Alkaline water is either made from an ionization process that raises the pH to a level of seven or higher. Or sometimes the water is just naturally alkaline from high levels of magnesium, potassium, and calcium, depending on the source. So some of the pros of alkaline water is it may reduce acid reflux. because it can help neutralize some of the stomach acids. Some people claim it has an amazing taste. and some users even report they have better hydration. Some cons of alkaline water is your body already regulates your pH level and alkalinity pretty tightly. So excess alkalinity may alter your gut microbiome. And I think I want to do a whole other episode on that because it's so fascinating the new science that's come out on your gut microbiome. They call it your second brain. There's so much. It's amazing. ah I'm going to do an episode on that pretty soon. But yeah, so drinking alkaline alter your gut microbiome. It's expensive. It's not necessarily for everybody. And it's actually recommended to drink acidic water in the mornings, like a glass of lemon. Like have a glass of water with a splash of lemon in it. because it helps appropriately match your body's level, natural level of acidity. Alkaline water is really good for people with acid reflux and those experimenting with different hydration preferences. And then there's hydrogen water. which is water that's infused with molecular hydrogen gas. using electrolysis or hydrogen tablets. some of the benefits is early research shows that. suggest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects may reduce oxidative stress, support recovery, and boost energy. Some cons are it's expensive, research is still in the early stages, benefits aren't necessarily universal, hydrogen escapes quickly, it's the smallest molecule, and Because it's such a tiny molecule, it needs special containers. And it's really good for athletes, biohackers, or anybody interested in cutting edge wellness tools. I'm gonna do a little. So I want to pause here and really spotlight hydrogen water. because this is where wellness meets cutting edge science and technology and And clinical studies show that hydrogen water can improve metabolic health, reduces oxidative stress, and can even support conditions like arthritis. liver disease and metabolic syndrome. It works by targeting... harmful free radicals and supporting mitochondrial function at a cellular level. But here's the catch. It depends entirely on how it's made. So your devices like your hydrogen bottles are SPE membrane. And these can infuse hydrogen quickly, but they vary vastly in quality. There's also a magnesium stick method where the water, where the magnesium reacts with the water to create hydrogen gas. And it's a really affordable option, but it's a lot less consistent. And there's the tablets that you can drop into your drink or your water, but you have to drink it fast. It's convenient because they're a little bit more portable. So you can have them with you long time, long term and drink hydrogen water whenever you need to, as opposed to like the bottles that You have to drink within 10 or 30 minutes to get the best benefits. And there's extreme measures like injections or inhalants or baths. So your hydrogen can be inhaled. It can be used in therapeutic baths. even IV administration in experimental contexts. especially in clinical or like emergency settings. I personally use the Lumavitae bottle and no, I didn't do this whole episode to be a whole infomercial on my water. I didn't even have the water bottle here to show you. If I was doing an advertisement, I would show you all the fun features. has light, therapeutic lights. You can change the color, just makes it look cooler. It has earth magnetics in it that are supposed to mimic the frequencies of the earth. has different. magnetic fields, all kinds of things. It's bougie. It's the Rolls Royce of luxury hydrogen water. When I started my partnership with Lumavita, they were one of two hydrogen bottles backed by the IHSA. And now I personally have a preference to my bottle. Not everybody needs that level of investment and there are smaller simpler bottles that can deliver real hydrogen benefits. They don't have all the other bells and whistles but if all you're interested in is hydrogen then why pay for extra features you don't believe in or want? But the key is you want to make sure that your device has enough hydrogen to be therapeutic and doesn't produce harmful byproducts such as arsenic and other crazy chemicals as a process of electrolysis. So do your homework before investing. Don't just go buy a $40 bottle on Amazon and think that you're gonna reap the rewards of having good quality hydrogen water. Meanwhile, you're ingesting arsenic and who knows what else. So do your research if you're really going to invest in the hydrogen bottles and make sure it's backed by the IHSA. Like I said, there were only two back in the day and now there's like 10 of them. So there's a couple different brands out there that are backed by the international hydrogen. Science Association. I don't remember exactly what it stands for either way. Like I said, I did my own research. This episode is encouraging you to do your own research. There's been pros and cons. Some people say they drink hydrogen water and they felt nothing. And then some people felt amazing. I slept with the window open last night. It's the first like nice day of spring. It's been 105 degrees where I'm at Fahrenheit and it's been like 60 the past few days. So I slept with the window open and now my face is a mess and Normally I would have like a full blown cold. I would be miserable, body aches and everything. And because I've been drinking the hydrogen, I just have a little bit of a runny nose and my voice sounds bassy. Like I kind of sound like a dude right now, but it's okay. We're not going to focus on that. Right. ah Either way, I personally have noticed a lot of benefits from it. So I am vouching for it. If you want to take my word on it and you want to buy a hydrogen vessel, I will share my links, my personal shopping links on the show notes through Lumavitae. Otherwise do your own research, do your homework and just make sure if you're going to get a hydrogen bottle that you get a good one and not just some cheap knockoff on Amazon that's going to do more harm than good. And since we're talking about controversial types of water, there is a another type I didn't mention earlier, and that's your structured or living water. It's claimed to be restructured at the molecular level. via vortexing, magnetism, or exposure to natural flows. It was popularized by Dr. by Dr. Polak's research on easy water, the exclusion zone water. Some pros of it is supporters say that It hydrates more effectively and may enhance cellular function. And some cons are it's controversial and not widely proven in mainstream sciences. It's really good for those who are interested in energy flow and metaphysical connections to water. And so now that we've gone through all the different types of waters, pros and cons, benefits, how it's made, let's get into some practical tools on how you can be more hydrated on a regular daily basis. So what can you do in your everyday life to become more hydrated without over complicating it? Start your day with a glass of water before your coffee start with water I keep a glass of water by my bed and I drink an entire glass before I go to sleep and I drink an entire glass as soon as I wake up and I have a... I have a salt mixture that I put in my water. It's a mixture of like pink Himalayan, Celtic sea salt. I have a little Hawaiian Aalian salt in there. uh There's something else. I don't remember. I made it forever ago. I made a big bottle of it and I just add it to things. But it has like 84 of the 120 trace minerals that your body needs. And then when you add a pinch of sea salt into your water, it actually helps your body absorb the water and hydrate. from the inside out so you're not just peeing it out. So that's why I can drink a whole glass of water before bed and not wake up 52 times in the middle of the night to pee because I put the salt in it. So when I drink water with the salt in it, my body actually takes the water and hydrates my body with that water as opposed to just flushing it and using it to flush out my toxins. And then when you wake up in the morning, I have a glass of lemon water because when you wake up, your body is naturally a little more acidic. and you want to focus on that acidity and not add a bunch of alkalinity to it and throw it off whack. you want to... complement your body's natural process and make sure you use a stainless glass stainless steel or Glass I prefer glass for my water because if you have it sitting in micro if you have it sitting in plastics You're risking microplastics leaching. We're not going to get into all that. If all you have is a plastic cup, then I'd rather you drink water from a plastic cup than not drink water. How about that? So we don't need to talk about microplastics or whatever. But if you have a mason jar or a glass cup or stainless steel, any of those highly preferred. And let's talk about those steel stainless steel cups. I'm not going to name any name brands, but. wash them. Don't just assume because you put lemon water in it that it's you guys are gross wash your cup. I'm off my soapbox now that was just a necessary disclaimer. something else you can do every day to get an appropriate amount of water is eat your fruits and vegetables. Your body naturally wants to be hydrated through your food. Back in the cavemen days, we didn't often go drink from the lakes and rivers like the animals did because we didn't have access to them as often. We had to go hunt and forage and do things and We were often not near water sources, so we would support our body's hydration levels through the fruits and vegetables that we ate. So, you my mother-in-law lives off of Dr. Pepper and doesn't like water, but she eats a lot of fruits and vegetables, so she's getting the hydration naturally, and that's why she's still alive, because... anyway. So fresh fruits and veggies like cucumbers, oranges, watermelons, grapes will naturally give your body the water that it wants to receive. And remember, thirst isn't always a reliable signal. Usually by the time you actually get thirsty, you're already dehydrated and it's too late. So yes, you need to stay hydrated throughout the day. Make sure you're drinking water frequently. I love those water bottles that have like times on them and tell you like how much you should drink. And then somebody else, he used to carry around a big old gallon. I have a three liter thing of water that I carry. I just bought a carrying case for it and everything because hydration is important. But he always told me, because I was like, struggle with drinking so much water and I'm not going to use this episode to tell you how much water you should drink. There's so many different theories on you should drink this much. You should drink that one. I'm not. I don't care. Just drink water. I don't care how much you drink. Just drink enough. And I'm going to leave it at that. But I want to drink a lot of water because I like to do detoxes. I like to flush. All kinds of other reasons. So. I found that when I'm trying to drink a lot of water at a time, that instead of just taking a sip here and there and a sip here and there, it feels like you're constantly drinking. And then if you're not putting salts and other minerals in your water, it feels like you're constantly peeing. So a nice little hack that I have around that is when you drink, obviously you put your salt and lemons and things in your water and that helps your body actually absorb it, but when you drink, drink. Like glug, glug, glug, drink. your water, don't just sip it throughout the day, constantly throughout the day. Take a moment and drink. So if you have one of those timer things on your water and it says, you you should drink this much each hour, gamify it. Make a goal of drinking at least half of that each chug. So drink it. Don't just sip it. And that's an easier way to drink more of it at a time. If you make a glass of water, drink that glass of water and then go get another. Um, if you drink alcohol, it is so important that you drink a glass of water for every alcoholic beverage that you consume. If you take a shot, drink a glass of water, drink a beer, drink a glass of water, a pour of whiskey, drink a glass of water. Stay hydrated. The reason you feel like shit when you wake up hungover is because you are dehydrated. Alcohol is a diuretic. Most teas are diuretics. Coffee is a diuretic. So when you wake up in the morning already dehydrated because your body depletes a lot of water throughout the night, when the first thing you drink is coffee, you're further dehydrating your body. Drink water. So anytime you drink anything that's an unknown diuretic, drink water with it. Drink pickle juice, drink salt water, lemon water, whatever you need to do. Just make sure you're staying hydrated. And I do want to get into a slightly metaphysical topic because I think it's so fascinating and big stream science will say that this has been debunked, but it really hasn't. It's been repeated in multiple sciences and experiments, but Dr. think it's Dr. Masaru Amoto. Anyway, he did an experiment where he found that like saying saying nice things to water, telling it you love it, or even thinking nice things. And then Frozen formed really pretty patterned crystals on the snowflakes. And then when you said mean things, like I hate you, or you thought angry thoughts towards the water and you froze it, that it came out like sharp and ugly and no patterns. And I thought that was kind of fun. I've seen this. replicated a couple different ways in a couple of different experiments and it's always so fascinating to me and whether there's scientific truth behind it or not. I always like to believe a little bit of the metaphysics, just the science hasn't caught up to it yet. So I love the idea that water holds memory, water holds truth. So whether or not you buy into... the science. There's something powerful about the idea of intention. There's rituals like charging your moon water. And I 100 % believe that the moon has magnetic effects on the water. I mean, it controls the tide. So why wouldn't you want to put glass of water in a jar and let the moon charge it and say nice things to it? People speak affirmations into their water. Thank you. I love you. Thank you for healing me and making me healthy. If it works, works. doesn't. It doesn't. But it's just something else I wanted to kind of briefly discuss. So today we've taken a full journey with water. from the science of the mitochondria and hydration. to the different types of water and their pros and cons, to the cutting edge promise of hydrogen water, And finally some of Waters metaphysical and and spiritual depth. My challenge for you this week is simple. Drink water with intention. Notice how the different types of water make you feel? and maybe even thank your water before you drink it. Because when we respect the water, the source of life, we respect ourselves. I love you. I thank you for being here. Please like, share, subscribe, leave a review, do all the things. Help me keep the channel open so I can bring more valuable information like this to you. Let's go do life hydrated. Bye, I love you.
